In this training, we explore some fundamental concepts of Relational Neuroscience which are directly applicable to clinical practice. A look at the workings of the Autonomic Nervous System will deepen our understanding of human needs and behaviors. We will identify fundamental qualities of the therapeutic relationship which provide safety as the groundwork for healing. Keeping present-day cultural challenges in mind, we identify specific ways we, as Mental Health practitioners, can increase our capacities to be a healing presence for clients and other loved ones.

Participants in this training will be able to:

  • Describe ways the Autonomic Nervous System influences fundamental aspects of human experience.
  • Discuss the difference between implicit and explicit memory and the importance of working with implicit memory in therapy.
